The People

The Facts:

-Fifty percent of the population is less than 21 years old.
-Roughly 45% of all children suffer from moderate to severe malnutrition.
-One-third of Cambodians live below the poverty line on less than $1 a day.
-Cambodia has the highest infant mortality rate in Southeast Asia.
-Almost 2 million people were killed in the brutal genocide of the 1970s.
-Less than 2% of the population is considered Christian.

When you get down to it, it’s the people that make Cambodia special…

The average child living within Cambodia does not have many comforts in life, much less parents, money or food. However, the children that reside at the Shelter of Love Center have been given  food, clothes, medicine, education, love and care, and the hope found within Jesus Christ.  You can tell on their faces the joy that is present within their lives, something not commonly found within the children of Cambodia.

It is not the Center itself, but it is the staff, the leadership and the children that have become family to one another, watching out for each other, loving each other, and caring for one another’s needs.
